Absolutely divine food! Had this been served at a Michelin stared restaurant, I would have been really happy, amazing flavours. Wish I tried the entire menu (amazing cocktails too!)
Mary Celeste was first recommended by dear friend who also owned a wine bar in Paris. I went with two girls on a cozy winter trip and the meal and service was some of the best we’d had. Fast forward 2.5 years and I was drawn in by the casual/cool ambiance and inviting bar. As I sipped on my wine, it dawned on me that I was in the same restaurant. Everything from the service, to the cocktail menu and meal was excellent. The menu is seasonally curated, always fresh and the vibe is even better. Thank you Jeff, Zazu, and beautiful Italian bartender for excellent service. I’ll be back :)
Get ready for the explosion of flavours! Starting with fresh and delicious oysters, continuing with steamed crab bun (and the source is omg). Don’t forget to taste Gambero tartar - fusion of sweet and sour with a delicate spicy note. Yummy!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
I've visited Le Mary Celeste for lunch, for apero and for dinner. it's a bit of my safe space when in the neighborhood at this point. They have amazing natural wines by the glass as well as a very throughtful international style of cuisine (korean cuccumber pickles, Hispanic cold cuts, and French steak tartare). I highly recommend the black tarama. Please note that the ground floor bathroom is often under repair (so not ideal if you are in wheelchair) and that some of the staff is actually more comfortable speaking English than French. The crowd is also fairly international. The place can get very packed at rush hours.
We had an amazing dinner experience, where we ordered some of their signatures which included their devil eggs and gambero rosso tartare. The devil eggs, marinated in soy sauce and served with a creamy yolk, were phenomenal. The osysters, specifically, Huître BB boudeuse n˚5, were exceptional, where we reordered it several times. Additionally, the popcorn cauliflower was also fantastic. Crispy and fragrant, it goes really well with cocktails and other beverages. However, despite the gnocchi being overcooked, the duck did save the day. The duck was the most tender I ever had, and our waiter Aviva was the super kind in helping us ask the chef how it was cooked. Lastly, the dessert was also great, the panna cotta served with blood oranges tasted so refreshing, a perfect way to end the night. Overall, this place is perfect for drinks, chill, and dinner and I definitely recommend you give their devil eggs and popcorn cauliflower a try.
