Description

Before the concert: Upon arrival, you'll enter an iconic Parisian landmark: the American Cathedral, the Church of the Madeleine, or the Chapel of Saint-Germain-des-Prés. The solemn and peaceful atmosphere, away from the Parisian tumult, invites contemplation. You'll settle in, surrounded by visitors from all walks of life, eager to share this unique moment. The concert starts at 8:30 p.m. The concert begins. About fifteen professional choristers, dressed in mauve, enter the stage. They sing a cappella the first iconic songs of the gospel and negro spiritual repertoire, such as 'Amazing Grace,' 'This Little Light of Mine,' 'Oh When the Saints,' or 'Go Down, Moses.' The saxophonist and pianist sometimes join the choir to enrich the performance. During the concert: As the songs progress, the room fills with energy, hope, and emotion. The songs tell the story of slavery, conveying universal messages of resilience, love, and peace. The audience is invited to participate, sing, and clap their hands: the boundary between artists and spectators fades to make room for a true moment of communion. After the concert: At the end of the concert around 10:00 p.m., the audience leaves the building with a smile, touched by the generosity and passion of the choristers. The shared emotion continues in the discussions, and the experience leaves an unforgettable memory, regardless of age or beliefs.
