Description

Uncover the many sides of Victor Hugo at the House of Victor Hugo Museum, set in the elegant Hôtel de Rohan-Guéménée on Place des Vosges. This museum invites you to experience the intimate spaces where Hugo lived and worked from 1832 to 1848, offering a unique perspective on the celebrated author, artist, and thinker. Begin your visit in the atmospheric rooms restored to reflect Hugo’s daily life, including his study and salon, filled with personal furniture, portraits, and rare manuscripts. Marvel at the objects and artworks collected and donated by Paul Meurice, Hugo’s close friend and the visionary behind the museum. The collection includes pieces from Juliette Drouet and the Hugo family, as well as evocative portraits and the room where Hugo spent his final days. Continue through the museum’s temporary exhibition space, which showcases rotating displays on Hugo’s literary, artistic, and political legacy. Learn how the museum’s collection has grown over the years, thanks to family donations and contributions from collectors and artists, including Jean Hugo. After you have booked your ticket, please book your free time slot in advance on the Museum’s website: https://www.maisonsvictorhugo.paris.fr/
