Description

Chateau de Chantilly Chantilly is one of the most impressive palaces and estates north of Paris, and one of the jewels of French heritage. The ancestral home of the Prince de Condé and the Duc d'Aumale, it is set in 7800 hectares of forest. It is a museum in itself, with a treasure trove of 1,000 paintings, 2,500 drawings, 2,500 engravings by Raphaël, Ingres, Wateau, Poussin, Delacroix... and 30,000 precious books. It contains collections of remarkable furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries. The Galerie des Batailles is once again open to the public to view the sumptuously restored décor and twelve paintings depicting the victories of the Prince de Condé. Castle gardens After the tour, you'll stroll through the French gardens. The oldest was designed by Le Notre in the 17th century, but you'll have the rare privilege of enjoying a unique Anglo-Chinese garden on the same site, with its hamlet giving the place an incomparably romantic atmosphere. The horse museum You'll follow this tour with a visit to the Grandes Ecuries and its living horse museum, located on Europe's largest estate, an 18th-century masterpiece. There are 30 competition horses.
