Le Picnic By Veuve Clicquot - Printemps Haussmann
Paris
レビュー
We visited the Veuve Clicquot pop-up rooftop at Printemps. While the location deserves some praise, the overall experience was deeply disappointing due to a complete lack of hospitality and poor management. The Good: 2 stars go to: The breathtaking view, beautifully decorated terrace, and the food. Although the menu is quite limited, everything we ordered was delicious. The Bad (Why it’s a 2-star review): Lack of communication: We had a reservation for 6:30 PM. No one warned us either during booking or upon arrival that the venue closes strictly at 8:00 PM. Order mistakes & language barrier: We ordered two glasses of Veuve Clicquot Rich White (which is supposed to be served on ice). The waiter, who barely spoke English, brought us Rich Rosé instead (which is about 30% more expensive) and with no ice. We didn't make a fuss and just asked to bring some ice. The climax of the evening: Food was served quickly. Around 7:20 PM, we wanted to order more food, but were told the kitchen was already closed. At 7:45 PM, we ordered a bottle of champagne (€120). They happily served it to us. However, at exactly 8:00 PM, the waiter approached us with the bill and bluntly said: "We are closing now, you have to leave." Management reaction: When we expressed our confusion about why they sold us a full bottle 15 minutes before kicking us out, the waiter called the manager. The manager initially started arguing, saying, "You had 1.5 hours, isn't that enough for you?" Only after realizing how absurd the situation was (selling a €120 bottle right before closing without warning), he apologized and discounted 50% of the bottle's price. While we appreciate the manager's eventual gesture, the evening was completely ruined, and we had to urgently change our plans. For a brand like Veuve Clicquot, this level of service is unacceptable.
I spent the afternoon at the Veuve Clicquot rooftop experience at Le Picnic, and it was unforgettable. From the rooftop terrace, we had a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower — the perfect backdrop for a champagne tasting. Juliette, the manager and our host, was warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate; she made the entire experience feel special. We sampled four different Veuve Clicquot champagnes, each with its own personality, and finished with a delicious fruit tart that paired perfectly with the bubbles. The setting, the flavors, the view, and Juliette’s hospitality made it one of the highlights of my time in Paris.
