If you're looking for solid French fare, look no further! The Latin Quarter was charming and was the chosen location for our last meal in Paris! La Jacobine didn't disappoint. The waiter was fantastic, his recommendations spot on. We had the onion soup, the escargot, the beef stew & the mushroom sauce duck dish. Even the table bread was delish. Dessert was a surprise and was fabulous. We "rolled" out of there happy & very full!
I am glad I wanted to find some escargot and we stumbled upon this place. The snails were wonderful. The French Onion soup was so tasty. Everything we had was lovely and the service was very kind. I would go back and recommend this spot if you can get a seat. It is down an very old and famous alley so history nerds eat your hearts out.
Probably the best meal we had in Paris. It's a very cute place with very kind staff. We had beef with red sauce, duck and an onion soup to share. Everything was extremely delicious! For drinks, I highly recommend a glass of rosé wine, it was the best wine I've had so far. Finally, we had the famous raspberry and pistachio tart, which did not disappoint! It's good to book in advance, because the restaurant has limited tables and it gets very busy.
We LOVED this place! Worth the wait if you don’t have a reservation. The almond/date duck was unreal, pork with mustard sauce (per my husband) very good, and the tarte citron - incredible! Overall, they have a fun and laid back staff that knew how to manage the busy room. We would definitely go back! Merci!
This is one of my favourites whenever I visit Paris — I also came here three years ago, and the french onion soup was as good as I remembered it to be. I ordered the escargots and the rooster in red wine as well, which were good, but have tasted better elsewhere. Still, love this place because the French onion soup is so good, the beef stock is more flavourful here than other places. It is only the saltier side, which is right up my alley. The place is lovely, looks cosy and very European chic. However, as it was still “winter” (end March), they did not have proper fan or ventilation, which got quite warm in the restaurant. I like how the servers can speak English here, so if you’re a tourist, you are welcomed. You have to book before hand, go down in person. Worth it.
