Description
Three iconic museums. One city. One expert guide. Choose how far you want to go.
The Musée Rodin, the Musée d'Orsay, and the Musée de l'Orangerie together trace the full story of French art at its most revolutionary — from Rodin's radical break with academic sculpture to the Impressionist masters of the Orsay, through to Monet's breathtaking late masterpiece at the Orangerie. Choose the combination that fits your time and appetite — your expert guide is with you every step of the way.
Musée Rodin (1h30)
Begin at the Hôtel Biron, an 18th-century mansion and Rodin's home, studio, and now one of Paris's most intimate museums. Inside its grand salons and across 3 hectares of sculpted gardens, your guide brings the full arc of Rodin's genius to life: The Thinker — conceived as a tiny figure for The Gates of Hell and reimagined as a monument to human thought; The Kiss, with its scandalous commission history; the monumental bronze of The Gates of Hell itself, worked obsessively for 37 years. The story of Camille Claudel — Rodin's student, muse, and rival — unfolds as a counterpoint to his triumph.
Musée d'Orsay (+ 1h30)
A 10-minute walk brings you to the former Gare d'Orsay — a magnificent Beaux-Arts railway station transformed into the world's greatest museum of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. With your guide, move through the works of Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cézanne, Van Gogh, and Gauguin. Understand the revolution these painters ignited, and how their work connects directly to the masterpiece waiting for you at the Orangerie.
Musée de l'Orangerie (+ 1h30)
Cross the Seine to the Tuileries Garden, where the Musée de l'Orangerie houses one of the most extraordinary experiences in all of Paris: Monet's Water Lilies, eight monumental canvases displayed in two purpose-built oval rooms exactly as the artist intended. Your guide reveals the ambition, the obsession, and the near-blindness behind this final gift to the French nation — before exploring the museum's outstanding collection of Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso, and Renoir.
