Description

Join this amazing journey in which clans and families clashed with each other from 843 to 1616 (a period rarely covered in any tour in Paris). From Viking raids to political plots during the Wars of Religion, from the origin of the English language to the reason why we fear Friday the 13th, we cover the historical events that inspired many books, series and video-games in just one tour. Just like a binge-watching award-winning TV series, this tour takes you through four episodes of French history full of intrigue, conspiracies, scandals, murder, and improbable coincidences that shaped the world as we know it today and inspired many famous works of fiction (including TV series, video games, and movies). Each episode has been designed to show within a decent time frame, the origins of the event, its consequences down the line but also how those events are relatable to our world today. History doesn't repeat itself … but it sure rhymes. The time period we cover extends from 845 to 1616 and it is a time too often forgotten by many tour companies ... Our world is not as different from 500 years ago as we think. The events that you are going to discover will feel eerily familiar to what you might hear on the news or read on the internet and you will see how those kinds of events still shape our world today. This tour will show and amaze you with its acumen, witty pop culture references, and deep reflection on the functioning of the world, but also tell you stories that most people have never heard about. From a benign family quarrel starting an invasion of France to political maneuvers that created myths we still live with today, through the mass production of lies to justify power grabs, and leaders that shaped our modern world and were forgotten – this tour has it all. Please note: It is recommended to book in advance as I may be called to work for other tour companies and if there are no bookings I will have to close certain slots to work on other missions. Slots are guaranteed only if there are bookings and therefore it is best to book ahead ! Recommendation: It is recommended to do this tour before visiting the Louvre museum ! PRIVATE TOUR On the Private Tour the experience can last from 2h30 to 3h as we dive deeper into the material. We can also arrange a stop at a bakery shop for a pause and chat (the cost on location is not covered by Ode to Paris).
