Experience the evolution of fashion at the Palais Galliera, Paris’s premier museum dedicated to the art of dress. Housed in a striking 19th-century palace, the museum traces the story of costume and couture from the 18th century to today. Explore permanent displays featuring garments, accessories, photographs, and graphic arts, with nearly 200,000 works in the collection. The museum’s history is woven into its walls, from its origins as a philanthropic project by the Duchess of Galliera to its role as a center for fashion exhibitions and cultural events.
Begin your visit in the grand Hall of Honour, surrounded by galleries bathed in natural light and adorned with mosaic floors and painted ceilings. Learn how the museum’s collections grew through donations and acquisitions, and see highlights from centuries of Parisian style. The permanent exhibition reveals the artistry behind historic costumes and contemporary creations, with a focus on craftsmanship and the people who shaped the world of fashion.
From December 2025, explore “Tisser, broder, sublimer. Les métiers et savoir-faire de la mode,” a special exhibition dedicated to the decorative skills that define Parisian couture. Discover over 350 pieces, from brocade waistcoats and Chantilly lace to modern laser-printed ensembles and Chanel’s iconic camellia. Examine textile samples up close and appreciate the work of artisans—embroiderers, feather workers, and floral makers—whose expertise keeps Paris at the forefront of global fashion.
