Beautiful tea experience ruined by one staff member's unprofessional behavior I recently visited this famous hotel for their renowned afternoon tea during my trip to Paris. The pastries, overall ambiance, and experience esp live harpist performance were absolutely wonderful. The hotel itself is stunning. However, the ending of my visit left a very sour taste. Before leaving, I went to the central open-air garden to take some photos. By accident, I bumped into a vase near the door, causing some water to spill onto the table and wet the menus. I felt incredibly sorry and apologized immediately. Most of the staff were highly professional and reassured me that it was fine. However, one male staff member rushed over, snatched the wet menus right next to me, and aggressively flicked the water off them directly onto the floor right in front of me. In doing so, the water droplets splashed all over my trousers and shoes. He then hurried to the counter to grab a cloth to wipe the menus, all while showing a visibly annoyed and impatient expression. While I completely acknowledge that knocking the vase was my mistake, it was entirely accidental. I expect a much higher standard of professionalism and hospitality from a luxury establishment of this caliber. Being splashed and treated with such open hostility made me extremely uncomfortable and completely ruined what should have been a memorable experience.
The service was incredibly attentive — the gentleman who served us explained the menu with such clarity and warmth, making everything feel effortless. All the staff were genuinely welcoming and the atmosphere was elegantly refined without feeling overwhelming. A truly beautiful place to enjoy.
