Our order was a Bistro gratin so it doesn’t have any eggs. But there were eggs in it ! Which I understand from the first bite! Also I’m not sure about the recèpe but all the materials were apart and in a light milky sauce :( it wasn’t my first time to try gratin though ! I expected more (at least from the appearance). The staff were friendly and polite but it took more than 30 minutes to bring our food which it’s too long .
A true Parisian bistro with amazing home-made food and wines. Make sure to try their house specialty - gratine...the best one is with the duck ( magre du canard ). Just exceptional! But what I love the most is the atmosphere. It feels like you are waiting for your grandmother to finish baking your favourite dish...slowly and with a lot of love. The staff speaks English very well so you needn't worry. The only thing is you have to be patient and leave enough time , at least 2 hours for a meal and don't get annoyed if you wait more than half an hour for the food to be ready...it is well worth the wait. Relax, enjoy and soak up the atmosphere! The tart Tatin was pure 10 out of 10. This is my third time there and I will be back again for sure!
Such a lovely little place with delicious food, great atmosphere and friendly, hard working service. Recommend the cheese gratin (lots of different types) and the cocktails! Great value too. Despite the tiny kitchen, service was fast and friendly. It gets busy though so you might want to book
Highly recommend this place place. It's close to the Seine, however there is a street still between. Seating is used to the max, but this gives a friendly atmosphere. The waiters was friendly and the menu was French and English. I recommend going at non-peak hours has it gets crowded quickly. Definitely try their signature dish, it did not disappoint and was filling.
I visited “Bistro des Augustins” during my stay in Paris and overall had a mixed experience. The restaurant itself is quite small. There are roughly 10 tables in total and the space can accommodate no more than about 20 people. The main downside is how close the tables are placed to one another. Guests are practically seated side by side, which makes the environment rather noisy and lacking in privacy. In my case, an English couple was seated right next to me and they were constantly arguing and speaking loudly, creating an extremely disruptive atmosphere throughout the meal. The staff consists of only 2 people, who act both as servers and cooks at the same time. Despite being clearly busy, they were very polite, friendly, and welcoming, which was definitely a positive aspect of the experience. The food menu is somewhat limited in terms of variety, with nearly half of it consisting of different gratin dishes. Portion sizes were relatively generous, and the taste was good overall, although nothing particularly stood out as exceptional. On the positive side, the prices are quite reasonable, especially considering that this is a Parisian bistro. In summary, Bistro des Augustins offers decent food and friendly service at fair prices, but the very small space and the lack of separation between tables can significantly affect the overall dining experience.
