Description
In 1825, Brillat-Savarin, father of modern gastronomy, wrote his famous Physiologie du goût, our first-ever food guide, on Rue de Grenelle, just a few minutes away from where the Eiffel Tower now stands. Home to some of the oldest restaurants in the city, this neighborhood evolved from one of the last wild, undeveloped areas of Paris, where aristocrats liked to hunt, into a paradise of culinary craftsmanship. On this tour, you will taste a curated selection of traditional French specialties, including pâtés en croûte, gougères, charcuteries, tartare, pastries, chocolates, and more, all crafted by expert artisans, including a world champion and a former La Tour d'Argent chef. You’ll also savor a variety of cheeses, paired with natural red, white, and orange wines. As you explore, you'll pass by Les Invalides and l'Assemblée Nationale, with stunning views of both the Pont Alexandre III and the Eiffel Tower, just minutes from the final stop. On top of visiting each culinary artisan's shop, where you will do the tastings, you will pass by the city’s oldest restaurant, where Brillat-Savarin wrote part of La Physiologie du Goût. You'll also visit a chocolate shop founded under Napoleon, designed by the same architects behind the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel du Louvre! Along the way, our expert guides will share fascinating insights into the French terroirs and their history!Includes
